B- Weekly Current Event #5

The story is mainley about the new S3tr pronouned as Streeter. This is a one person vehilcle. According to Holloway “The current model uses a standard electric bicycle kit from the Golden moter which grands a range of 15km (9.3 miles) from one charge.”

I think this would be a great way to save gas. I also think that it is a way of getting out of giving someone a ride. This does not really effect me yet because I don’t drive. Overall I think this is a great in invention . That is how I feel about the S3tr.

I think that this impacts the world in a good way and in a bad way. The good way is that it folds up so that you can store it under your desk at work which is a good thing because you don’t have to worry about anyone stealing it. A bad thing is that it is only for one person so if you have kids I would not recommand that you get it.  Another good thing is that it does not take gas you just have to charge the battery. So as you can see the good really does out weight the bad.

Bi-Weekly Current Event #4

The article is mainly about Apple planning on making 4.7 and 5.5 inch downward curved screens. According to Prakash “The new phone would likely be released in the third quarter of next year.” The curved glass screen has became a smartphone trend for all the major companies.

I feel that the new curved screens are a good idea but I also think that it is really useless. I think that it is a good idea because who wouldn’t want a screen that is curved to show all of there friends. I also think that it is useless because I really don’t care about the way my screen is shaped on my phone because as long as I got a good phone and my screen is not scratched up I am fine. The curved screen does not really affect me at all. That is how I feel about the new curved screen.

I think that it impacts the world in two different ways. The first way is the people who want to look cool actually need the new curved screen to show how good they are. Also sometimes if you are part of a major business then they sometime require you to have the latest phone. The other way that it can impact the world is some people are very clumsy and them having a curved screen is an accident waiting to happen. That is how I feel the new curved screen will impact the world.

Bi-Weekly Current Event #3

My topic is Windows 8 Making a change but with problem

The title of this article is : Windows 8.1: What a difference a year makes

This article was about Windows 8 making an upgrade to all its devices but with three problems. The three problems are the touch screen, the new and the old software, and did nothing to teach people how to use it. With the touch screen problem it would not let you see the setting without going through the desktop control panel. The new and old software problem is that it could not have both it is one or the other. Lastly not teaching people how to use it problem is Windows 8 introduced a lot of new things but did not tell people how to use them at all.

I think that the new Windows 8 upgrade is not a good idea. I think so because who what’s to have something that they have no idea how it works. I feel that it is unfair to have people waste their money on something that they can’t work. It affects me a lot because I use the Window’s 8 products and I would hate for my daddy to buy me the new upgrade and I don’t have a clue how to use it. It also impacts me because I Like to record songs and I would not know how to upload them or work them.

It impacts the world because people want  to learn and be on top of all the new technology. So now they can’t if the new Window’s 8 is not wanting to teach people how to use them at all.  According to Peter Bright “Windows 8 was far from perfect” ( Windows 8.1: What a difference a year makes). So if it is not what it is supposed to be then people will not want to buy it and then Window’s sale percent will drop. That is how I feel it is going to impact the world.

Blog Post #3

Dear, Readers

Some new terms that we have learned this week is a stereotype which means a popular belief about a group of people based on assumptions that are often false. An online predator is commonly someone who uses the internet to develop inappropriate relationships with kids or teens. Manipulate is trying to influence someone to do something they might not otherwise do, for one’s benefit.

Some web 2.0 tools that we learned about is make beliefs comix, goanimate, animoto, and chogger.  Make beliefs comix is not a good thing to use I don’t think so because you can’t save your work. Goanimate I really like using it because I used it in a project and I got an 85 on it. On goanimate you can save your work and add your own pictures. It is basicly like a comic site. Animoto is a website where you can make free 30 second video’s I also like this one because I did a project with it an make an 95 on it. On chogger you can draw your own characters and make a comic with them. All of these tools are comic tools and very fun to use when you play with them I bet that you would like them.  I don’t believe that these tools have any negative aspects.

The digital literacy components that we learned about is the positive and negative interactions with strangers online, some stereotypes that people believe are true, people being manipulative, and how to avoid sexting. This information affect me a lot because now I know what to do and what not to do online. I also know what stereotypes are and to not believe most of them because if you focus on a pacific stereotype then you will think that it is ok to do whatever with who ever as long as you are the same age.

Overall my week has been good and bad it was bad because of my grades that I got on my report card. I had a good week because I got to see all of my friends and also my dad understood my grades and we are working to better them before the next report card or progress report.

Bi-Weekly current event #2

The topic of the article the article is a new way to keep your gun locked away in a gun box that requires a RFID- equipped bracelet (or ring), via a fingerprint scan, or a combination of the two.

The title of the article is Fingerprint sensors and GPS tracking keep your firearms safe inside the Gun Box.

I got the article from Gizmag.

Fincher, Jonathan. “Fingerprint sensors and GPS tracking keep your firearms safe inside the Gun Box.” Gizmag. 27 Sept. 2013. Web. 27 Sept. 2013.

According to Jonathan Fincher “the gun box does not stick out in a home” (Fincher). The gun box can be used by several people with different passwords. It also will not be damaged in a fire or an accident. One more thing is that if the gun box has been moved or tampered with the owner will get a text alert and some can get the exact location of where the gun box is.

I think the gun box is a good idea. I feel this way because lots of people’s gun’s get stolen everyday. This does not really affect be as much because I don’t own a gun. When I get older and possibly own a gun I think the gun box would be an good idea. That is how I feel about the gun box.

I believe that this impacted the world by making a safer place for gun owners to out there guns. It also impacted the world by making it a lot harder for thieves to steal someone’s gun. I believe that most old people with guns would most likely buy the gun box because they are usually the one’s who get robbed for their weapons. Another thing that I think is that is that if someone does get away with someone’s gun box then they will get caught in less than 24 hours. That is how I think the gun box will impact the world.

Bi- weekly blog post #2

Some  of the new terms that we learned this week is plagiarism and digital citizenship. Plagiarism means the paraphrase or direct quote, of the published work of another person without full or clear acknowledgement.  The other terms that we learned was digital citizenship which is safe, responsible, and ethical approach to interacting online. One of my favorite one's is connect culture which means to treat people the way that you want to be treated; no cyberbullying.
Some new web 2.0 tools that we learned this week is mixbook, prezi, and diigo. Some positives of all of these is that they are all good tools to use for projects and presentation. If someone was doing a presentation I would recommend them to do prezi because you can zoom in and out and also it has amazing backgrounds. I really don't believe that there is any thing negative about any of these. The only thing that I will say about mixbook it is that make sure that your stickers don't cover your words.
Ethics is the digital literacy component that we learned and it means to have a set of moral about people’s behavior- requires honesty and respect. Ethics should be used every where exspecialy on the internet.
This information affected my personal/acadiment life because I know how to be safe online and what is really plagiarism because before we actually talked about it I thought that changing
word makes it my work.

Bi-Weekly Current event #1

The topic of the article is  iPhone trying bigger screens.
The tittle of the article is "APPLE TESTING BIGGER IPHONE SCREENS"
The article is from CNN
Gross, Doug.  "Apple Testing Bigger iPhone Screens." CNN. Web. 6 Sept. 2013.             <http//www.cnn.com/2013/09/06/mobile/apple-bigger-iPhone-screens/indext.html>.

According to Wall Street Journal, the "iPhone is planning on making a bigger screen that is 4.8 inches" (Gross). Samsung and iPhone are both rivals because of the Galaxy Note 3 with the 5.7 inch screen. iPhone is planning on rolling out 2 more differnt iPhone that are cheeper than the iPhone 5 for buyers in like China or India. Iphone options are between a new Ipad or a smartwatch.

I am on Apple's side with the bigger screens and the smartwatch. I feel that it would be a great thing to come out with something new every once in a while instead of having the same thing for years. This event affects me bacause I love apple period and every time I hear that they have came out with something new I just have to have it no matter what. I also think that it would be a good thing to give your rival something to worry and wonder about.

This event has impacted the world by first leting people have more choices to choose from while with apple. The second thing is giving people something to look forward to. The last thing is leting people keep in contact with their friends and family for a cheaper price. I really do think by apple lowering its prices that they will get more custumers.

Bi-weekly Blog Post #1

My past week here at GECHS has been amazing. I have learned a lot about computers and how coding works in intro. to pub class. My first day was the best because we had a fun day like I have never had before. My second week of school is when we started getting all of our home work and that is how it has been every since but I am getting use to it. I have had three quizzes and one test so far and they have been super hard.

Some new term I have learned are Fair use:The ability to use a small about of someone’s work without their permission. Commercial Purpose: A use in connection with a business, usually for a business.Copyright: A law that protects a creator’s ownership of and control over the work he or she creates, requiring other people to get the creator’s permission before they copy, share, or perform that work.Creative Commons: A kind of copyright that makes it easy for people to copy, share, and build on someone’s creative work - as long as they give the creator credit for it.Public domain: Creative work that’s not protected by copyright and is therefore free for you to use however one wants.

Some new web 2.0 tools I have used are Schoology, Codecademy, Favicon, and hyperlink. . Schoology: the positive things about Schoology is that your teacher can add you to their classes page and you can see what you are doing for that day and you can see your grades for that class. The negative thing is that your parents can also have access to your page through their page and see your grades. Codecademy: the positive thing about codecademy is that it teaches you about coding and helps you create your own website and other nice projects. The one negative thing is that it is really difficult to understand it you don’t read the instructions.

The digital literacy that we learned is respecting someone's work and if you use their work make sure you use it respectfully. Also make sure you don't use someone else's work for your own or for any kind of profit like prizes

This changed my personal/academic life because all of the thing that we learned helped me be a better/smater person online and to learn how to give credit for the work that I use of someone else's. The main thing that I had fun doing was learning what a favicon was and how to build one of my own.
